2019 TENNIS WITH THE STARS TO BENEFIT DESERT ARC

Rancho Mirage, CA (September 10, 2018) — Desert Arc, a Coachella Valley organization that serves adults 18 and older with developmental disabilities, will serve as an event beneficiary for the 5th annual Tennis With The Stars presented by the BNP Paribas Open. Desert Arc joins ACEing Autism as co-event beneficiary, and the BNP Paribas Open returns as the presenting sponsor.

“Desert Arc has championed the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1959,” states Richard Balocco, President/CEO.  “These are people who never had a choice in life – they were born with these medical conditions.  Desert Arc is the only nonprofit organization in the desert communities serving the myriad and growing needs of currently over 700 adults, ages 18 and older.  Our life-transforming programs are designed to help the people we serve secure employment, have a safe place to come to every day and interact with others.  And, most importantly, to reach their highest potential to live, work and socialize in the community.  We are honored for being selected as a co-event beneficiary for Tennis With The Stars 2019 as part of Desert Arc’s 60th Anniversary celebration year!”

Desert Arc was originally founded in 1959 by a group of parents who wanted to expand the horizons of their developmentally disabled children’s lives with educational programs and recreational services. Today, Desert Arc serves adults 18 and older with developmental disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, epilepsy, and other medical conditions. Desert Arc and ACEing Autism both provide therapeutic tennis programs throughout the year at Omni Ranco Las Palmas Country Club.

“As we continue to grow our event each year, we are always looking at how we can engage and give back to the local community,” said Kimberly Arena, event director. “Desert Arc does incredible work in the Coachella Valley, and we are thrilled to work with and raise funds for such an impactful organization.”

The 5th Annual Tennis With The Stars presented by the BNP Paribas Open features top ATP and WTA stars competing with and against amateur players, hosted at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa. Past players include Simona Halep, Frances Tiafoe, Garbine Muguruza, Kei Nishikori and Genie Bouchard among others. The event is set for Tuesday, March 5th, 2019.
