Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce that Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club will host the PGA TOUR’s Puerto Rico Open qualifying rounds on March 5 and 8, 2010.

The qualifier will be hosted at Bahia Beach just days before the PGA TOUR event his held March 11-14, 2010. Last year’s exciting tournament saw Michael Bradley edge off Jason Day and Brett Quigley with a long birdie putt on the final green to win his first PGA TOUR victory in 11 years.

“We are looking forward to showcasing Bahia Beach to a solid field of professional players,” stated Spencer Schaub, general manager at Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club. “Our agronomy team has been working diligently to have the course in tournament condition and we are confident the event will be a complete success.”

Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the course features a magnificent layout winding between dense, natural jungle and a series of ocean-fed saltwater lagoons. While the views of the El Yunque National Rainforest frame most holes, the final three finish along the Atlantic Ocean. The clubhouse is a beautiful Caribbean plantation-style, 26,000 square-foot facility overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the 18th green. With a large bar area and deck with incredible views, the clubhouse has certainly become the property’s central meeting place.

Located along a pristine beach stretching over two miles, the St. Regis hotel, scheduled to open in the fall of 2010, will feature 139 luxurious rooms. With five-star service, including the vaunted St. Regis butler program and a Remedé spa, the hotel will bring a new level of elegance and sophistication to Puerto Rico.

Preserving and protecting the natural environment has been a crucial aspect ever since the project at Bahia Beach began. Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club was recently named among five leading golf courses that earned the coveted 2009 Golf Inc. “Green Award.” The property was recognized as a result of its successful and pioneering environmental practices. The award recognizes Bahia Beach’s commitment to reducing the impact on the surrounding ecosystems, improving the aquatic ecosystem in its ponds, enhancing wildlife habitats and corridors, and conserving water through its irrigation system. In addition, the property has the distinction of being certified by Audubon International as a Gold Signature Sanctuary, which also reflects Bahia Beach Resort’s ongoing commitment to the environment.
