GOLF DIGEST NAMES BEST NEW COURSES FOR 2006

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is thrilled to recognize Blue Heron Golf Club and The Classic Club for being named by Golf Digest as two of the best new courses for 2006. Blue Heron Golf Club in Medina, Ohio, occupies the #2 spot of the “Best New Public Under $75,” and The Classic Club in Palm Desert, California came in at #5 in the “Best New Public Over $75” category.

Blue Heron Golf Club opened in May 2005 and features 27 holes of distinctive topography including elevation change, ravines, natural lakes and streams, and routing through native Ohio forest. The layout is as visually stunning as it is challenging, with five lakes coming into play on eight holes of this John F. Robinson design. Five sets of tees ensure playability for each skill level, while finely manicured bent grass greens, tees, and fairways assure championship conditions for all.

The Classic Club, home site for the PGA Tour’s Bob Hope Chrysler Classic 2006-2007 is a par 72, 7,305-yard Arnold Palmer design that offers a variety of tee options, appealing to players at all levels of the game. The course has a rolling terrain with several elevated tees featuring a core design with pine, olive and pepperwood trees, offset by flowering bushes, shrubs and pine straw ground cover, all playing off of the surrounding mountains and vistas that are exclusive to the Coachella Valley.

“We are thrilled to recognize Blue Heron Golf Club and The Classic Club for receiving these prestigious accolades,” stated Troon Golf President and COO, Hud Hinton. “Golf Digest is one of the foremost industry publications and to have two courses named to this list speaks volumes for the relationship Troon Golf holds with the world’s leading course designers.”

How the courses are ranked: To be eligible for Golf Digest’s list of America’s Best New Golf Courses 2006, a course must have opened between May 1, 2005 and April 30, 2006. Winners were determined by evaluations filed by the magazine’s panel of more than 800 low handicap golfers, who judged courses in five categories: Shot Values, Design Variety, Resistance to Scoring, Memorability and Aesthetics.
