Four Troon Golf-Managed Facilities Named Among "The Best and the Brightest"

Scottsdale, Ariz. - Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is thrilled to recognize those managed-facilities honored by Crittenden Golf Inc. magazine in their 2006 "Development of the Year" contest and "Clubhouse Competition." More than 25 entries were received in each category, with the international category for "Development of the Year" making its debut this year.

Development of the Year (private clubs):
First place: The Peninsula on the Indian River Bay, Millsboro Del.
According to Golf Inc. - "The Peninsula on the Indian River Bay artfully combines large-scale residential development and superb golf with the Delaware waterfront topography. Jack Nicklaus, the architect on both projects has obviously mastered the art of meshing high-end residential development, golf and coastal wetlands into a master plan that meets today's modern requirements for developer profit, scenic vistas and a rewarding golf experience."

Clubhouse Competition (private):
First place: Entrada at Snow Canyon, St. George, Utah
One of the most unique clubhouse designs in the country, the clubhouse at Entrada at Snow Canyon draws upon the strengths of the area's natural beauty. Emerging like a ruin from desert rock, Entrada's architecture blends with the sandstone hillside, and its understated design elements, including monochromatic colors and rugged forms, creatively draw upon tribal symbols and artifacts. The huge indoor/outdoor banquet room provides stunning views of St. George and the entire clubhouse offers a warm, intimate space to enjoy the day.

Development of the Year (daily fee):
Finalist: The Reserve Club at St. James Plantation, Southport, NC
The final 18-holes of golf at this 81-hole facility, The Reserve Club, a Nicklaus design, opened this past spring to rave reviews. The natural beauty of the club is enhanced with top-notch amenities such as a 7,715 square foot Golf House, which contains the golf shop and a screened-in patio turn bar. With architecture fashioned after a combination British colonial and coastal club, the Golf House complements the other three existing facilities on St. James Plantation.

Development of the Year (international):
Finalist: Playa Mujeres Golf Club, Cancun, Mexico
Playa Mujeres Golf Club is a Greg Norman design located just outside Cancun's famed hotel zone. The course features several lagoon and ocean front holes, with four holes actually playing from or towards the beautiful white-sand beaches and turquoise colored Ocean of the Mexican Caribbean. This 18-hole course was conceived with full respect for both the naturally abundant fauna and the environmentally sensitive areas that surround it.

"Congratulations to each of these stand-out facilities," stated Troon Golf President and Chief Operating Officer, Hud Hinton, "Troon Golf is dedicated to providing golf experiences at the highest possible level and we are especially proud to see our facilities recognized by this leading industry publication."

For "Development of the Year," judges evaluated finalists in each category based on four different criteria: whether the development team achieved its mission (50 percent), course routing (20 percent), course aesthetics (20 percent) and other amenities (10 percent). For the "Clubhouse Competition," judging was based on a combination of efficiency of design, visual appeal and how well the finished product meshed with the developer's goals.
