GOLF MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES 2010 PREMIER GOLF RESORTS

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to recognize its managed facilities named to Golf Magazine’s “Premier Resorts” rankings for 2010. This year’s list continued the tradition of allowing avid golfers to vote on their favorite properties on the magazine’s website. More than 6,000 golf enthusiasts offered their opinions to build the biennial guide, listing the 100 greatest resort destinations in North America. As noted in the list below, a total of six properties within the Troon Golf portfolio made their exciting debut as Silver Medal Resorts and two properties made enormous improvements to advance into the Golf Medal category. In all, 18 Troon Golf-managed facilities were included in the following categories:

Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa (Whirlwind Golf Club) – Chandler, Ariz. (new to the list)
The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa – Scottsdale, Ariz. (new to the list)
The Westin La Cantera Resort – San Antonio, Texas
The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa – Tucson, Ariz.

Additionally, Golf Magazine listed top picks for quality golf and accommodations in each region of the country in “Best in Your Area” as well as a list of “Resorts to Watch.” Troon Golf-managed facilities listed as “Best in Your Area” include One & Only Ocean Club, Caribbean; One & Only Palmilla, Mexico; St. Regis Monarch Beach, California; Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North, and The Phoenician, Arizona; Giants Ridge Golf & Ski Resort, Midwest; Inn at Entrada, Rocky Mountains; The Equinox ResortSeaview Golf Resort, and Foxwoods Resort Casino (Lake of Isles), Northeast. WaterColor Inn (Camp Creek Golf Club) was named in the “Resorts to Watch” category.

Voting for the “Best Golf Resorts” was based on four criteria: golf, lodging, food & drink, and service. Forty percent of the resort recognition was based on golf, considering factors such as challenge, playability, scenery, history, facilities and service. The rest of the score was equally weighed among lodging, food & drink, and overall service at the resorts.
