Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce three of its managed properties named to Golf Monthly magazine’s 2010 “Top 100 Courses in the U.K. & Ireland” published in the December issue.

Leading the way in Troon Golf’s portfolio is the No. 3 ranked Open Championship venue – Turnberry’s Ailsa course located in Ayrshire, Scotland. Since opening in 1901, the Ailsa course has become one of the most recognized in the world due to its iconic lighthouse and memorable championships highlighted by the “Duel in the Sun” between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson in 1977. With the rugged Ayrshire coastline running alongside the course, it is renowned for being one of golf’s most picturesque venues.

Ranked No. 81 on the list is the Martin Hawtree-designed Bearwood Lakes Golf Club in Berkshire, England, despite opening just 15 years ago. The exclusive course in the Berkshire countryside is a short drive from London’s Heathrow Airport and is known for being one of the best conditioned inland courses in the country. Noted for its excellent hospitality, the challenging course boasts a number of risk-reward holes that make it one of the most enjoyable courses in the United Kingdom.

The Grove, located in London, England is ranked No. 85 on Golf Monthly’s Top 100 List. Designed by Kyle Philips, the course layout combines contemporary characteristics with the great traditions of British golf course architecture. Host of the World Golf Championships in 2006, won by Tiger Woods, it has been recognized due to its superior conditioning, variety of water features and first-class service.

Considered one of the most reputable course rankings in golf, Golf Monthly’s “Top 100 Courses in the U.K. & Ireland” (or its equivalent) has been compiled for nearly 100 years, with the aim of bringing perspective and guidance to its readers. The panel is made up of an array of Golf Monthly readers, who range from age 27-72 with handicaps from 1-18, as well as Golf Monthly’s staff and a senior advisory panel that includes former Golf Monthly editors and senior golf course raters from around the world.
