Golf Course Renovation, Upgraded Ferry and New Beach Club Just Some of the Improvements

Scottsdale, Arizona - With historical levels of voter turnout, the members of Haig Point demonstrated their overwhelming enthusiasm in the passing of a $15 million strategic plan - turning the page for the next chapter in the life of one of South Carolina's most exclusive golf course communities. Haig Point is a Troon Golf®-managed facility on Daufuskie Island; and while the club may be just one nautical mile away from Hilton Head - it is quite a significant mile! Haig Point is not reachable by bridge, only private ferry -- ensuring no cars, no crowds, no dizzying commercial development, and most importantly, no hassles - today or anytime in the future. Haig Point offers the ultimate in privacy, security and enjoyable everyday living, for those thinking about retirement or simply a second home.

During the next five years, Haig Point will spend $5.5 million on renovations to its signature Rees Jones 27-hole golf course; $2.7 million to upgrade its ferry system; and $1.9 million to transform its current beach club into a world-class oceanfront meeting and dining facility, boasting incredible views of The Calibogue Sound and Harbour Town, called "The Calibogue Club." Additionally, $2 million has been allocated to upgrade the buildings and the roads at Haig Point, improving both the community and Hilton Head docks.

"The strong vote for passage of the strategic plan, at a time when many clubs are redefining themselves, shows dramatically that Haig Point has a clear direction for an even brighter future, stated Rick Layton, general manager of Haig Point. "The membership has spoken loudly and the management team looks forward to helping to implement this great plan."

The essential character of Haig Point is that of an environmentally sensitive, architecturally distinguished, un-crowded community. With real estate offerings ranging from charming cottages to villas to estate homes, there is something for everyone. The extra-large home sites offer an extraordinary choice of views - the broad Atlantic, the Calibogue Sound, the ever-changing seascapes of the surrounding saltwater marshes, or the soothing landscapes of manicured golf fairways and greens.
