LA PALOMA COUNTRY CLUB ANNOUNCES GOLF COURSE RENOVATION

Tucson, Ariz. – In 1984 Jack Nicklaus graced the fairways of the newly designed La Paloma Country Club, playing the first round of golf on the 18-hole course that he designed. Today, nearly 25 years later, La Paloma is proud to announce that Jack is back.

Nicklaus has already visited the club and will return again this summer to continue a renovation on the course’s greens and bunkers. During his visit in April, Nicklaus commented that while there is some room for improvement, he didn’t see one hole he didn’t like. Upgrades to The Jack Nicklaus Signature design, which now features 27 holes, will be completed in three phases. Each summer for the next three years, La Paloma Country Club will be converting nine traditional bent grass greens to a new and improved Bermuda turf with a few modifications to green contour, compliments of “The Golden Bear.”

“We are extremely lucky to have, arguably, the greatest golfer ever improve on what is already an incredible golf course,” stated Bill Petrella, general manager at The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa. “The best part is that at no time will we ever have less than 18 holes of magnificent golf available for members and resort guests.”

The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa is a luxury, full-destination resort in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains. In addition to the Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, the resort offers 487 guestrooms including 25 suites, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa, seven restaurants featuring the culinary delights of 30-year Westin executive chef, Serge Delage and James Beard Award winner Janos Wilder, tennis and health center, aerobic and Pilates classes, catering and conference planning, retail shops, car rental, five swimming pools, 177-foot waterslide, and The Westin Kids Club Discovery Room.
