Scottsdale, AZ - Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce its selection as golf operator for the ultra-luxury Playa Mujeres Resort - comprising 930 tropical acres of prime property on Quintana Roo's Costa Mujeres Peninsula nestled between the Caribbean Sea and Chacmochuc ("Chac") Lagoon, just seven miles north of Cancun, Mexico and 20 minutes from its international airport.

The Playa Mujeres Resort will feature 36-holes of ecologically friendly championship golf - designed by Greg Norman, with carefully crafted water holes, hills, jungles, roughs, bunkers, greens and other elements of the courses utilizing a re-arrangement of the site's native plants, trees and other indigenous foliage. Construction of the first 20 holes, the practice range, and the clubhouse is in progress and scheduled for opening in fall 2005.

"We know that the Hank Family went through an extensive process in choosing a golf management company to oversee operations at this prestigious development," stated Troon Golf President and COO Hud Hinton. "We are honored to have been chosen and welcome the opportunity to extend the TROON GOLF EXPERIENCEsm to this region of Mexico."

Playa Mujeres' sea is serene, due to the natural protection provided by Isla Mujeres opposite the property. The fine white sand stays cool under the sun's rays and the shallow inshore waters, with gentle waves, are perfect for practicing water sports. Additionally, coral and flora highlight the four miles of pristine Caribbean beaches reserved for the exclusive use of Playa Mujeres guests.

Playa Mujeres' CEO, Ramon Abascal said, "We are most pleased to welcome Troon Golf to the Playa Mujeres family. Troon's international reputation as the ‘premier operator in all of golf' brings yet another quality and unparalleled element to the ultra-luxury Playa Mujeres experience."
