NAPERVILLE COUNTRY CLUB EMBRACES “GOLF FOR LIFE” CULTURE

Naperville Country Club in Naperville, Illinois has embraced a “golf for life” culture through strong junior, high school and adult golf programs and events.

Naperville Country Club’s junior golf program is recognized as one of the best in the Chicago area as juniors are introduced to the game and golf fundamentals early in life.  Junior golfers, age 7 and under, participate in the Club’s SNAG golf program on Wednesday mornings throughout the summer. SNAG golf is a scientific golf training concept for all ages and abilities, making golf easy to learn, easy to teach and fun to play.

For junior golfers ages 8 and above, Naperville County Club’s advanced junior golf program runs throughout the summer and focuses on six essential elements of instruction: Fundamentals & Chipping; Pitching & Full Swing; Full Swing & Long Game; Putting & Short Game; Overview & Skills Challenge; and Bunker Play.  Twenty-seven golfers participated in the advanced junior golf program.

For juniors seeking a more competitive environment, Naperville Country Club fields its own PGA Junior League team, consisting of 18 golfers, ages 13 and under.  The team won the Western DuPage County Division in the recently completed 2019 season. The Club also regularly hosts local junior golf and high school golf events, such as the annual Vern McGonagle Memorial Championship, which is a team competition among area high school golf teams.

Progressing to the college level, Naperville Country Club is home to the North Central College men’s golf team and played host to the 2018 Women’s Mid America Conference Championship. In 2021, Naperville Country Club will host the prestigious Western Junior Championship. 2021 will mark the 104th playing of the Western Junior, while also being the Club’s centennial anniversary year.

“Naperville Country Club is extremely proud to host an event of the magnitude of the Western Junior,” said Naperville Country Club General Manager Brad McMillan, who started at the Club this past July. ”With past champions such as Rickie Fowler, Jim Furyk and Hunter Mahan, and past participants like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Fred Couples, Brandt Snedeker and Matt Kuchar, the Western Junior is a showcase for golf’s future stars.”

For adults, Naperville Country Club offers a men’s golf league, women’s golf league and a couples’ golf league, pairing golfers of similar abilities and skill levels together. The Club also hosts men’s senior tournaments, couples’ events and regular morning golf groups. In total, there are more than 250 members participating in the Club’s golf leagues and tournaments.

Naperville also supports a healthy golf lifestyle by encouraging members to walk while playing golf and offers a caddie program to make walking rounds easier. The Club’s culinary team developed golf fit menu options, providing healthy, locally-sourced foods for members.

Naperville Country Club is a private, member-owned club, managed by Troon Privé, the private club operations division of Troon. In addition to award-winning golf, Naperville Country Club provides a full array of dining, social and special event programming for the entire family. The club’s patio and restaurant are popular with members providing a place to relax and unwind, and have the best view in town.
