Team Troon On Tour: Near Win By Kuchar At Genesis Invitational

Results From Last Week
The PGA Tour’s 2020 Genesis Invitational at Riviera is in the books and last week included a number of great Team Troon finishes. Matt Kuchar was in the driver seat for most of the event with Patrick Cantlay also bouncing between the first and second page of the leaderboard (Cantlay probably benefited from some home course knowledge as he played collegiate golf for UCLA ). Both (and the rest of the field) would ultimately fall short of Adam Scott’s gutty final round to capture his 14th PGA Tour victory (and an invite to the Sentry TOC at Kapalua).
Kuchar started the week strong with a tournament low 64 in the first round. He was at the top of the leaderboard all week which gave our Troon logo on the bag plenty of airtime last week and into the weekend. He ultimately would fall two shy (-9) to Scott’s four round total of -11. Complete Team Troon results follow:

T30 Matt Fitzpatrick, -2
T59 Alex Noren, +4
Justin Thomas missed weekend play following a tough Thursday round (74). He followed it with a 71 but would miss the cut by 1. The upside was his Thursday and Friday pairings with one Tiger Woods did garner some additional Troon logo TV coverage as well. He is poised to bounce back at next week’s WGC event in Mexico…see “Coming Up Next Week.”
Cheyenne Woods played in two events in Australia over consecutive weeks…but missed weekend action in the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open after 76-75 start. She will be returning to the US…as the next LPGA event is in March in Phoenix (Founders Cup). Her status is such where she will need to Qualify, but she will be qualifying on familiar turf as the Qualifier will be at the Troon-managed Longbow Golf Club in Mesa where she played in a number of events as a junior golfer (including the AJGA Heather Farr Classic).
Coming Up Next Week
Four Team Troon Members are in action this week at the WGC Mexico Championships in Mexico City. The defending champion is Dustin Johnson but Team Troon will be vying for the W.
