Course Designer Jim Fazio Takes Part in Festivities

Scottsdale, Ariz. - Opening to much fanfare this week in Oxford, Mississippi is The Country Club of Oxford. Located in the residential community of Grand Oaks, the club is an 18-hole private facility, managed by Troon Golf® that caters to the city's growing professional population and strong alumni network. A celebration for members and their guests took place on Saturday, July 15 with live music, children's activities and of course, golf! The guest of honor for this event was Jim Fazio, who designed the course making it a superb golf experience for players of all levels.

The course meanders through lush, mature trees while passing by several lakes that come into play on multiple holes, and experiences significant elevation changes as it plays through the hills and valleys of the northern Mississippi countryside. The fertile soil on which the golf course is built provides an excellent foundation for local foliage such as dogwood trees and azalea bushes.

"Mr. Fazio has designed an outstanding golf course, the owners are providing first class amenities and the staff will provide a level of service equal to other nationally recognized high-end private golf facilities," stated PGA General Manager, Andrew Smith.

In addition to the top-quality course, the club offers a practice area including a driving range, and recreational amenities such as tennis and swimming. New facilities to be built in conjunction with the golf course expansion include a clubhouse featuring a full-service golf shop, fully appointed men's and women's locker rooms, lounge, restaurant, exercise facilities and meeting rooms. The clubhouse and surrounding facilities will be built with Southern themes, taking into account the charm, culture and architectural subtleties of the region. The construction of recreational amenities including swimming pool, fitness building (golf shop), snack bar and tennis courts are on schedule to be completed in early 2007.

Located just 70 miles south of Memphis, Oxford, Mississippi is the home of the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) and has at one time or another been the home of world-renowned authors such as William Faulkner, John Grisham, Larry Brown, Barry Hannah and Willie Morris.

Headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, Troon Golf is the world's largest golf management company, overseeing operations at more than 185 courses located in 28 states and 20 countries.
