Nicklaus Design Sure to Establish Itself as One of Southern California's Most Challenging Courses

Scottsdale, Ariz. - Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is thrilled to announce the opening of The Retreat Golf & Country Club, an 18-hole private golf facility located amidst the mountains of the Cleveland National Forest in Corona, California, and which has been nominated by Golf Digest as one the "Best New Courses" for 2006.

The course offers players amazing panoramic views of the Inland Empire to the north and the Temescal Valley to the south. Meandering along McBride Creek, adjacent to the forest, the course is a par 71 that measures 6,745 yards from the championship tees. With a 73.8 course rating and a 145 slope, it is sure to make a name for itself as one of the most challenging courses in Southern California. One of the most memorable holes is #14. A short par three downhill that measures 169 yards from the championship tees and is guarded on the front and right by water. The tee-shot offers a view that is unique to Southern California -- you can see all three major mountain peaks, Mt. Baldy, San Gorgonio and San Jacinto.

"We are thrilled that The Retreat is receiving such rave reviews," stated Troon Golf President and COO Hud Hinton, "and we look forward to expanding our relationship with Empire Companies in developing additional premier, high-end golf communities in Southern California."

Opening later this year, a 25,000 square foot clubhouse will offer members the best in private golf club amenities -- indoor and outdoor dining, locker rooms, fitness center, golf shop and event lawn that overlooks the 9th and 18th greens.

Immediately upon finishing their first round of golf, the members began raving. Comments include: "…It is exceeding our expectations - The Retreat is an unbelievable golf course that is in immaculate shape." "It was in truly amazing condition…better than any course I have ever played."

The club is the center point of a 500+ home site master planned community developed by Empire Companies. In an effort to bring more upscale housing to the Inland Empire, five guest builders were invited to construct homes in the community. These include: Prestige Homes, KB Homes, Lennar, Diversified Pacific and Beazer Homes.
