Scottsdale, Ariz. - Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce that Timothy Blackford has been named general manager of Bahía Beach Resort & Golf Club in Puerto Rico. The oceanfront golf course is a Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design and is scheduled to open this year.

Most recently, Blackford was general manager of Anthem Country Club in Nevada, Del Webb's most successful golf community. He previously served as general manager of Horseshoe Bay Golf Club in Wisconsin, which was named Troon Golf's "Facility of the Year" in 2003 under his leadership, and as clubhouse manager at the award-winning Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. He received his MBA from Atkinson Graduate School of Management in 1994 and has nearly a decade of golf club managerial experience in operations, food & beverage service, accounting, restructuring and sales & marketing.

Bahía Beach Resort & Golf Club is taking shape along two miles of pristine beach on 483 acres of former coconut plantation and native maritime forest, 25 minutes from Puerto Rico's San Juan International Airport. World-renowned St. Regis® Hotels & Resorts will operate the intimate 150-room St. Regis Resort, Bahía Beach, Puerto Rico, which will include an ultra-luxurious hotel condominium slated to open during the winter of 2008-09.

The golf course at Bahia Beach marks the first design project by Robert Trent Jones Jr. in Puerto Rico. The site stretches across two miles of beach along the Atlantic Ocean and through a native maritime forest with views of El Yunque rainforest from almost every hole. According to Jones, it will be a challenging golf haven that will delight your soul and spirit.
