Scottsdale, Ariz. - The ratings are in…and Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is thrilled to announce that Turner Hill Golf Club in Ipswich, MA has been named one of the ten best new private courses for 2004 by Travel + Leisure Golf, in the publication's January/February 2005 issue. A Troon Golf managed facility, Turner Hill Golf Club is situated on one of the finest estates on Boston's historic North Shore.

This par-72 championship course has been designed by Hurdzan Fry to test the mettle of any golfer, while preserving magnificent hillside vistas and century-old landscaping. Rambling across more than 7,021 yards of mature landscape, Turner Hill's layout delivers unparalleled play. The scenic fairways culminate at the signature 18th hole, which turns with a dramatic sweep between two reflective ponds to finish at the landmark mansion. The Golf Clubhouse, located at the mansion, features historic design and detail with all new amenities and appointments. The Members Grill at the Clubhouse features impeccable cuisine and service from the mansion's highly trained staff.

"Congratulations to Turner Hill for receiving this great honor," stated Troon Golf President and COO, Hud Hinton. "We applaud our associates at this facility for consistently delivering the Troon Golf Experiencesm and raising the bar for all private clubs in New England."

This property has a marked history. The Elizabethan-style mansion is set among towering pines, formal gardens, rolling lawns and swan ponds. In 1898, noted turn of the century architect William Rantoul was commissioned by Charles Goodnough Rice & Ann Proctor Rice of Boston to build a grand home. Completed in 1903, the mansion boasts plaster hand-molded ceilings, vivid wall friezes, gleaming oak hardwood floors and hand-carved paneling, doors and stairways. The reception hall's wildlife motifs and windows were modeled after Haddington Hall in Scotland. Shortly after Mr. Rice passed away in 1943, the estate was sold to The Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette, and the property was converted to ministry and spiritual retreat uses. In 1997, the Raymond Property Company purchased Turner Hill from the La Salette order, and have since been working to restore the property to its original splendor, and to reinvent the estate as a once-in-a-lifetime retreat for a new generation of guests and residents.
