TROON ANNOUNCES PLAYER DEVELOPMENT MONTH FOR MAY 2014

Programs Benefit Junior Players Around the World and
Introduce Beginners to Golf in a Fun, Affordable and Educational Way

Scottsdale, Ariz. – In a continued effort to grow the game of golf, Troon is launching its third annual “ Player Development Month with Get Golf Ready” during the entire month of May. Troon daily-fee facilities, private clubs and Troon Golf Academies around the world will join together to conduct more than 500 introductory golf clinics and activities during the month of May. These clinics introduce beginners to the game in a fun, affordable and educational way and have benefited junior players around the world.

To make the clinics accessible to as many people as possible, participation in most events costs only $20 for adults, while juniors 17 years of age and younger are free. Clinics will run for a minimum of 60 minutes and will keep a ratio of no more than 10 students per instructor. At the conclusion of each clinic, participants will have the opportunity to continue their pursuit of the game by registering for a Get Golf Ready program, which includes five additional instructional classes starting at just $99.

“We are thrilled to launch Troon’s Player Development Month with Get Golf Ready for a third consecutive year,” stated John Easterbrook, executive vice president of operations, Troon. “By making golf more accessible and inviting, this global effort is having a strong impact on introducing beginners to the game and encouraging participation in future Get Golf Ready classes.”

Get Golf Ready has introduced the game to thousands of adults who have never played golf or who have minimal experience in the game. Overall, participants learn techniques regarding chipping, putting, full swing, half swing and bunker play, as well as the fundamental guidelines of use and maintenance of golf equipment, keeping score and navigating the course. Significant on-course learning opportunities are part of each lesson, as well as background on the game’s rules, etiquette, history and values.

Studies clearly show that playing golf is good for your health and wellness. While being outside and enjoying the sunshine and serene landscape, a golfer will have a healthier state of well-being. Playing a round of golf also burns calories and rejuvenates the mind through one of the best forms of moderate aerobic activity – walking. It is also a great way to spend time with family and friends while enjoying the outdoors. Visit www.PlayTroon.com for more information on all of Troon’s “grow the game” initiatives.
