TROON GOLF ADDS TO THE FOUNDATION OF THE TRADITIONS CLUB

Partnering with The Melrose Company at Texas A&M University

Scottsdale, Ariz. - The Melrose Company has selected Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing, to assist in setting the foundation for The Traditions Club, a private club under development in Bryan, Texas. The facility will support Texas A&M University as part of The Melrose Company's university club concepts.

The unique concept embodies the visionary partnership of The Melrose Company, The Weitz Company and Troon Golf to develop greater opportunities with colleges and universities, and surrounding communities. The Traditions Club will serve its members and host alumni, business associates, and college supporters in the exquisite manner known worldwide as the TROON GOLF EXPERIENCEsm. Troon Golf will manage golf operations that include the golf course, clubhouse amenities, as well as 25 Founder cottages.

Scheduled to open in spring 2004, The Traditions Club features Jack Nicklaus and his son, Jack Nicklaus II, as co-designers of the stunning signature golf course. With an expansive state-of-the-art practice and learning facility, complete with offices, classrooms, and two full-scale practice holes, the new golf course will serve as the home for all Texas A&M golf programs.

Recognizing the need to be more competitive with other college communities, the city of Bryan raised the necessary $25 million through tax improvement funds to establish the infrastructure for The Traditions Club development.
