Greg Norman and The Troon Golf Experience Share Center Stage

Brisbane, Australia - In grand opening ceremonies held March 16, 2002, Troon Golf Australia took special pride in unveiling Brookwater Golf Club. Situated in the native bush land around Brisbane's Springfield, in Queensland, The Greg Norman-designed layout stands as the first golf course built in Brisbane Region in over 28 years.

"Troon Golf is thrilled to offer the residents and members of Brookwater such a new premiere level playing experience," said Bruce Glasco, Troon Golf Senior Vice President, Australia-Pacific Division. "They can be assured of impeccable, championship playing conditions. Our high quality maintenance practices and superb member services, combined with Greg Norman's masterful sense of challenge and strategy, elevate golf in this area to a breathtaking level."

Following welcoming introductions from the owners, Springfield Land Development, an invited field of 100 dignitaries, celebrity guests and others who contributed in the development of the Brookwater residential golf community, played the course in 4-person Ambrose (as a Scramble event is called in Australia). Some of the more notable personalities included Wendall Sailor of the Queensland Reds and Australia Rugby Team; Ian Healy, the former Australian Cricket Captain, and now Channel 9 Sports Presenter; and Channel 7's Andrew Slack, also a former Australian Rugby player.

The field of players was unanimous in their assessment of the new golf course, awarding high praise for the design, course conditioning, and special beauty in its environmental-sensitive surroundings.

Additionally, Callaway was on hand at Brookwater to stage its worldwide launch of the new Callaway Hex golf ball. Ian Healey and Wendall Sailor hit ceremonial tee shots from the No. 1 tee signifying the launch of the Hex golf ball in Australia.
