Employee Teams Rack Up $2700 for Local Organizations

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Once a year, the executives and employees of Troon Golf meet informally to share in a recreational activity away from their offices. This year they chose to demonstrate their camaraderie for the benefit of the community by staging the company's First Annual Troon Golf Charity Bowlathon. After tallying the groups' collective fallen pins, a total of $2,700 was donated to eight national and local charity organizations.

Four-person employee teams, each representing different charities rolled six games and vied for a share of the purse donated by Troon Golf to their charity of choice.

The winning team, comprised of John Easterbrook, Jon Munson, Carol DiCocco, and Brittnee Kuehn, bowled a total score of 1548 and donated $1,000 to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. The second place team, manned by Lyn Bickle, Lori Marra, Derek Vice, and Ryan Walls, bowled a total score of 1486 and donated $700 to the American Cancer Society. Rounding out the top three, with a total score of 1469 were Ron Despain, Paul Czarnecki, Diana Leonard, and Michael Cole, whose charity, Sojourner Center, received a $500 donation.

Donations of $100 each also went to Make-A-Wish Foundation, Valley Big Brothers and Sisters, Arizona Lung Association, Juvenile Diabetes Association, and Ronald McDonald House.

"Throughout the year our golf courses are utilized to help assist numerous charities in raising money for their individual causes," explained Troon Golf Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dana Garmany. "Coming up with a means for our corporate staff to assist worthy organizations, like those that we competed for today, is just another way Troon Golf strives to help make our community better."
