TROON GOLF COURSES HOST The PGA TOUR

Troon Golf, the world’s leading golf management, development, and marketing luxury brand, is known for meticulous agronomic standards that promise championship playing conditions every day of the week at every Troon Golf facility. Superbly manicured golf courses are the core of the “Troon Golf Experience.” It’s no wonder several of the company’s facilities have attracted the attention of the PGA TOUR.

For guests at The Westin La Cantera Resort, San Antonio, Texas and The Westin Innisbrook Resort, Tampa Bay, Florida, the excitement of walking the same ground as their favorite PGA TOUR player is an added bonus to the world-acclaimed “Troon Golf Experience.” “There’s a special thrill to watching the PGA TOUR professionals battle it out on holes our guests have parred or birdied themselves,” says Troon Golf President and Chief Operating Officer, Hud Hinton.

The Westin La Cantera Resort hosts the “Westin Texas Open at La Cantera” September 18-24, 2000 when Duffy Waldorf returns to defend his title. Named the “Number One Favorite Public Golf Course in Texas,” La Cantera was designed by the team of Tom Weiskopf/Jay Morrish, who blended their traditional concepts perfectly with the Texas hill terrain, accenting the area’s renowned natural limestone features.

PGA TOUR action returns to the Tampa Bay area, October 16-22, 2000, when The Westin Innisbrook Resort, welcomes the first annual “Tampa Bay Classic.” The tournament will be played on the formidable Copperhead Course, ranked among America’s top resort courses and one of Innisbrook’s four award-winning golf courses. Innisbrook also hosts the “NFL Player’s Shootout” each January and welcomes the “Celebrity Players Tour” featuring professional athletes and celebrity entertainers.

Located in Melbourne, Troon Golf Australia’s Yarra Yarra Golf Club is the home of the “Australian Women’s Open,” an event that captures the prestige of this long-standing golf facility first established in 1898 and later rebuilt in 1928. Golf course designer Alex Russell routed the traditional layout through the picturesque and undulating terrain of Melbourne’s Sand Belt area and joined in a partnership with the inimitable Alastair McKenzie who assisted with the bunkering and overall course strategy that gives Yarra Yarra its distinct character. This past February, the reigning “U.S. Women’s Open Champion,” Australia’s own Karrie Webb, posted the score to beat to win her first “Australian Women’s Open.”
