TROON GOLF DONATES $30,000 TO BANNER HEALTH’S BREAST CANCER PROGRAMS

Scottsdale, Arizona – Troon Golf,® the worldwide leader in upscale golf management, development and marketing, contributed $30,000 to the Banner Health Foundation of Arizona to support local breast cancer programs. The funds were raised as part of a special “GOLF FORE LIFE” program.

The “Golf Fore Life” program launched in September 2001 as part of Troon Golf’s year long effort to raise money for breast cancer programs. Troon Golf courses sold the $5 pink metal ribbon golf bag tags to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer screening, education and treatment. All proceeds from the sale of the tags were given to the Banner Health Foundation.

Tim Greenwell, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing of Troon Golf presented Stu Smith, President/CEO Banner Health Foundation of Arizona and Merle D. Bird, Chairman Banner Health Foundation Board of Directors, with a $30,000 check in a special presentation on November 7 at Troon North Golf Club as part of Troon’s unveiling of its Monument Course renovation.

“We are excited to present the check for $30,000 to the Banner Health Foundation for their breast cancer education and research programs,” stated Greenwell. “The explosion of the game of golf, especially among women, provided us with a large audience to spread awareness about breast cancer. Hopefully through our efforts women have become more conscious about maintaining their health and allow them to concentrate on improving their golf game.”

The Banner Health Foundation of Arizona supports a variety of breast cancer programs including screening mammograms, prevention education, diagnostic exams, support services and treatment. Proceeds from the “Golf Fore Life” program will help provide these services to minority and underserved women in our community.
