Money To Be Distributed Through National Home Office's Best Practices Program

Scottsdale, Ariz. - Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is thrilled to announce that through its corporate office and managed facilities around the country, the company raised and donated $50,000 to The First Tee for their Best Practices Program. A check was presented to The First Tee's Executive Director, Joe Louis Barrow Jr. at the opening reception of Troon Golf's annual Management Conference this past week in Phoenix, AZ.

While numerous Troon Golf facilities around the country helped to raise the funds, two facilities truly stand out for their efforts. The Phoenician, in Phoenix, AZ, played host to the Arch Watkins Memorial Golf Tournament. The event featured a clinic by PGA Tour Professional Billy Mayfair, a silent auction, and great tournament prizes, and raised $10,000 for The First Tee.

Also falling into the "stand out" category is Talking Stick Golf Club. In June 2004, Associate Golf Professional Todd McKittrick attempted to break the world record for most number of holes played in 12 hours. The record stood at 535, and Todd, in an incredible effort, completed 393, and raised in excess of $7,800 for The First Tee Best Practices Program. In response to his effort, The First Tee has honored Todd with a seat on its Best Practices Program committee so that he may assist in dispersing the funds to local chapters around the country.

"We couldn't be more proud of what we as a company have done to support this great organization," stated Troon Golf president and COO Hud Hinton. "Troon Golf looks forward to continuing its partnership with The First Tee and we encourage our facilities to continue to help make a difference in the lives of each and every child who benefits from this worthy cause."

The goal of The First Tee is to instill responsibility, courtesy, honesty and integrity - all values inherent in the game of golf - into the daily lives of those who participate. By using the fundamentals of golf, The First Tee helps equip children and teenagers with the skills needed to follow their dreams, advance academically and athletically, strengthen their social abilities, and become productive members of their local community.

"A donation of this magnitude demonstrates the immense support The First Tee has garnered within the golf community.
