TROON GOLF TO MANAGE 99 EAST GOLF CLUB, MALAYSIA

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce it has been appointed to manage 99 East Golf Club on Malaysia’s beautiful archipelago of Langkawi, a resort destination featuring 99 islands.

The Ross Watson-designed course is currently under construction, and is located at Bukit Malut on oceanfront land between Pantai Cenang and Kuah town, just 10 minutes from the international airport. The 18-hole, 7,500-yard championship layout will be a focal point for Malaysia’s famous tourist destination. The first nine holes are scheduled to open on June 15, 2011 followed by the opening of the full 18 holes and permanent clubhouse in early 2012. With multiple tee boxes, 99 East Golf Club will challenge the pros while remaining a fair and fun experience for recreational golfers.

“Troon Golf is pleased to partner with 99 East,” stated Ryan Walls, Troon Golf’s senior vice president, managing director, Australia-Asia-Pacific division. “Both companies share the same vision of delivering excellence and we are looking forward to giving golfers in Langkawi the type of world-class course conditioning and experience that Troon Golf offers at all of its global facilities.”

The breathtakingly scenic golf course takes in many design references from Australian and Scottish links courses with wild native grasses and reeds dominating the out-of-play areas. Its Asian character is expressed in the layers of rice terraces that skirt the course, along with a tropical rainforest backdrop.

“The combination of a great design, spectacular coastal setting and Troon Golf’s management and marketing programs will ensure the facility gains a reputation as one of the finest, ‘must-play’ golf courses in Malaysia and Southeast Asia,” Walls added.

99 East is Langkawi’s first integrated residential and resort development, offering a complete island lifestyle, with sustainable ecological ethics. More information on the facility can be found on the website www.99east.com or www.troongolf.com.
