Scottsdale, Ariz. - Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce that it has been selected to manage Little River Golf & Resort, located in the Sandhills golf region of North Carolina. Just five miles north of Pinehurst in Carthage, Little River is one of the area's premier golf resorts.

Little River is known as a world-class golf facility and ranked among North Carolina's "TOP 100 GOLF COURSES," by the North Carolina Golf Panel. Set among 450 acres of rolling hills and featuring elevation changes of nearly 200 feet, the 18-hole course meanders along narrow rivers and tree-lined fairways. Little River was designed by course architect Dan Maples in 1996, who was born just miles from the Little River Resort. Maples' personal interest brought a dedication to the course that no other architect could offer.

Little River Golf & Resort is part of a 650-acre planned community that was recently purchased by Oceānico Group USA Inc., a subsidiary of Oceānico Group, which is the leading developer of golf and leisure resorts in Portugal, where it is headquartered. Troon Golf oversees operations at the company's highly celebrated courses at Vilamoura in Portugal and will also manage two additional Oceānico courses under development at the nearby Amendoeira Golf Resort. Oceānico plans to develop the property at Little River with various types of residential and resort components and course upgrades.

"We are pleased to continue our partnership with Oceānico Group at Little River Golf & Resort," stated Hud Hinton, president and COO, Troon Golf. "Located in one of the most competitive golf destinations in the country, we are confident our management and agronomic practices will contribute positively to Little River's success."

A new 20,000 square-foot clubhouse recently opened its doors at Little River, featuring a beautiful reception area, full-service restaurant and bar, golf shop, locker rooms, and an outside dining area with wrap-around porches. "We are delighted that our relationship with Troon Golf will continue on the other side of the Atlantic," commented Simon Burgess, director of Oceānico Group. "The United States is where Troon Golf began and their expertise can only lend itself to the future success of Little River Golf & Resort.
