Grand Oaks Golf Course In Oxford, Mississippi To Be Renovated And Re-Named

Scottsdale, AZ - Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce its association with Golden Eagle Investments, Inc. in the renovation and expansion of the Grand Oaks Golf Course, soon to be re-named The Country Club of Oxford. Upon completion of the renovation, the facility, which is located in the residential community of Grand Oaks, will be an 18-hole private club catering to the city's growing professional population and strong alumni network.

The Jim Fazio re-designed golf course at The Country Club of Oxford will meander through lush, mature trees while passing by several lakes that will come into play on multiple holes. The course will experience significant elevation changes as it plays through the hills and valleys of the northern Mississippi countryside. The fertile soil on which the golf course will be built will provide an excellent foundation for local foliage such as dogwood trees and azalea bushes.

"We are happy to be partnering with Golden Eagle Investments, Inc. on this prestigious project," stated Troon Golf Executive Vice President, Acquisitions & Development, Tim Schantz. "The Country Club of Oxford will establish a new standard of golf in the area, and we look forward to bringing the celebrated TROON GOLF EXPERIENCEsm to both the state of Mississippi and this region of the United States."

In addition to the top-quality course, the club will offer a new practice area including a driving range, and recreational amenities such as tennis and swimming. New facilities to be built in conjunction with the golf course expansion include a clubhouse featuring a full-service golf shop, fully appointed men's and women's locker rooms, lounge, restaurant, exercise facilities and meeting rooms. The clubhouse and surrounding facilities will be built with Southern themes, taking into account the charm, culture and architectural subtleties of the region. The golf course is scheduled to be ready for play in 2005 and the additional structures built thereafter.

"Oxford is rich with history, culture, beauty and architecture," stated Rick Weyand, owner Golden Eagle Investments. "Now it is only fitting that it will have a Jim Fazio designed country club called The Country Club of Oxford and Troon Golf to look after it and manage it."
