The "Troon Golf Experience" Debuts in Utah

Scottsdale, Arizona - In another important step to meet the demand for highly efficient, top-quality project management, Troon Golf, the recognized world leader in luxury brand golf management, development and marketing, recently announced plans to develop and manage The Country Club at Summit Ridge in Santaquin, Utah. The 2,200-acre master planned community is now under development just 20 minutes south of Provo. Troon Golf is working closely with the owners, designers and builders in the earliest planning and construction phases of the golf course and clubhouse.

As the focal point of the new community, The Country Club at Summit Ridge will feature an 18-hole private members' course as well as a daily-fee course. Designed by golf course architect, Ronald M. Garl, Summit Ridge winds through a series of secluded valleys in the rolling prairie along the Wasatch Range, the dominant terrain of northern Utah. Home sites are set on finger ridges overlooking the course embellished by stands of cypress trees and man-made water features. The private course plans to open in July 2003, with the addition of the second golf course slated for 2007.

"We regard Troon Golf as the ‘Cadillac' of the industry," stated Summit Ridge Project Manager, Bob Lynds. "We are very excited to be this company's first property in Utah, and are looking forward to working with them to see this project to fruition."

The project will also include a 45-acre golf academy and practice facility that is an attraction in itself, featuring a wide variety of on-course simulations and target settings. The carefully devised setting will prove especially inviting to executives with time constraints working in the nearby commercial and industrial complexes, which are part of the overall Summit Ridge development. The innovative practice facility will be available next year.

Known predominately for his work in Florida, Garl's design style is remarkably inviting, believing in playability before all else, and moving only minimal amounts of earth to allow the natural terrain to dictate the design of the course.

"We certainly didn't have to alter this beautiful and intriguing valley setting," stated Garl. "With such a natural site, our biggest challenge is not to do anything to spoil it."

The capability to oversee initial project planning and all phases of construction from start to finish is a key component in the Troon Golf management operation.

"We are thrilled to play a role in the successful development of Summit Ridge," said Ron Despain, Senior Vice President, Design & Development. "We believe our best projects are those we are fortunate enough to be involved with from the beginning. Quite often, for the first year or two of a contract, our clients' association with Troon Golf is solely with the design and development management team."

Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, Troon Golf represents over 90 management and development contracts in 18 states and 10 countries. Troon Golf development properties include Talking Stick Golf Club, Scottsdale, Arizona; The Ridge at Castle Pines North, Castle Rock, Colorado; Shadow Lakes Golf Club, Brentwood, California; The Golf Club at Boulder Ridge, San Jose, California: The Club at Savannah Harbor, Savannah, Georgia; and Quintero Golf & Country Club, Peoria, Arizona.
