TROON GOLF WORKS TO PRESERVE THE NATURAL BEAUTY OF THE SONORAN DESERT

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Sharing in the community vision to preserve 57 square miles of contiguous desert open space between Scottsdale and the Tonto National Forest, Troon Golf®, the world leader in luxury golf management, development and marketing, continues to support the McDowell Sonoran Land Trust (MSLT). The Scottsdale-based company is pleased to announce its most recent contribution of $12,750.00 toward MSLT land acquisition and access management. Troon Golf has donated in excess of $365,000 since stepping up nine years ago as one of MSLT’s Partners in Preservation.

“We strongly support the mission of the McDowell Sonoran Land Trust,” stated Troon Golf Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dana Garmany. “The Troon Golf Experiencesm is grown from the culture and lifestyle enjoyed in the Sonoran Desert environment. We believe the care we take to maintain the fragile balance between development and the natural surroundings reflects the concern of the McDowell Sonoran Land Trust.”

Land trusts assure permanent protection through purchases, donations and agreements with owners that restrict a property’s use, and ensure scenic, historic, recreational, and wildlife areas. The MSLT is working with the City of Scottsdale and partners from the private sector such as Troon Golf to eventually acquire and protect approximately 36,400 acres of Sonoran desert that stretch through the McDowell, Fraesfield, Browns, and Granite Mountain ranges. Since this is a land preserve and not a park, there is stricter control on public access, and the planning and construction of trails, signage, and parking facilities often require a longer completion time.

“Troon Golf continues to be a strong financial supporter of MSLT, and we are grateful for the organization’s belief in our vision and programs”, stated Christine Kovach, chairman of the McDowell Sonoran Land Trust, “We look forward to continuing and growing this relationship in the future.”
