Will Oversee Golf Course Construction and Club Operations at the New Resort Community

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Troon Golf, recognized as the world leader in management, development and marketing of luxury brand golf courses, was recently contracted to manage golf operations for Turner Hill Golf Club. Currently in the design phase, Turner Hill is a 311-acre upscale resort development in the coastal community of Ipswich, Massachusetts, 30 minutes north of Boston.

Developed by Turner Hill Preservation Associates, LLC, a subsidiary of Raymond Property Company, the Turner Hill Golf Club will showcase the new resort's 150-room luxury hotel, 100 residential units, and a wellness center and spa. The golf course will open in summer 2002.

"Troon Golf will be a key partner in the progress of this development," said Turner Hill Project Manager Charles Reed. "We selected Troon Golf based on their highly respected reputation and superior expertise in creating such upscale golf developments as we envision for Turner Hill."

The resort development is named for the 270-foot high Turner Hill, the highest geographical point within the surrounding 10,000-acre state park. Located only three miles inland from the Atlantic Coast, the densely wooded area lends a wildness feeling to the routing of the new golf course which also takes in 80 acres of natural wetlands. For that reason, the developers chose the golf course design firm Hurdzan-Fry to build the golf course, based on their reputable sensitivity to environmental concerns. Their design incorporates every aspect of the natural setting, winding through wooded areas and open meadows.

"We are proud to partner with the Turner Hill Preservation Associates and help take resort golf in this beautiful area of Massachusetts to a new level," said Troon Golf Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dana Garmany. "We look forward to working with Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry to make Turner Hill one of the most exciting golf courses in the New England states and to introduce our renowned ‘Troon Golf Experience' to golfers in this part of the country."

Following the design and construction phases, Troon Golf will operate the Turner Hill Golf Club as an upscale daily-fee facility maintained to the company's highest agronomic standards. Through the company's commitment to exacting operations standards, residents and guests will enjoy the same extraordinary experiences Troon Golf creates at many of the world's finest golf facilities by providing playing conditions and gracious and attentive customer service.

The Turner Hill real estate project features the original 55,000 square-foot mansion built by the Rice Family around the turn of the 20th Century. The estate remained occupied until 1945 when it was sold to the Catholic Church and eventually purchased by Raymond Property Company in 1997. The new hotel will carefully incorporate the beautifully restored Elizabethan-styled mansion as its prominent feature. One of the original stable buildings is also being refurbished to house the Turner Hill clubhouse and golf shop.

Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, Troon Golf has over 60 management and development contracts in 13 states and 7 countries. Troon Golf facilities include Turnberry Hotel Golf Courses & Spa, A Westin Resort, Ayrshire, Scotland; Troon North Golf Club, Scottsdale, Arizona; The Ridge at Castle Pines North, Castle Rock, Colorado; Eagle Ridge Inn & Resort, Galena, Illinois; and Waikoloa Beach Resort, Kohala Coast, Hawaii.
