Team Troon On Tour: Woodland With Top 5 Finish At ZOZO Championship In Japan

By. Kris Strauss.

Team Troon had another week of excitement with Gary Woodland getting off to a great start in the ZOZO Championship in Chiba Japan. Woodland started off round one with a 64 to begin the event in a tie for first place with Tiger Woods. Ultimately Tiger would go wire to wire to get his historic 82nd win (tying Sam Snead) and Woodland would finish in 5th. Woodland played solid, posting rounds of 64-66-68-70, but would finish 7 shy of Tigers -19. Justin Thomas also played well and finished with a Top 20, help in part by an exceptional final round 65. Thomas would finish in T17 at -7.

5th – Gary Woodland, -12
T17 – Justin Thomas, -7
75th – Matthew Fitzpatrick, +12

Coming Up

Alex Noren and Matthew Fitzpatrick are off to China to play in the WGC HSBC Champions event (where last year, Xander Schauffele edged out Tony Finau in a playoff. Xander would carry that momentum into the start of 2019 and win the 2019 Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua)
