Team Troon On Tour: Three Top 40 Finishes In WM Phoenix Open By Team Troon

Before we get into the Team Troon on Tour update, we would like to congratulate the Troon International Team and Royal Greens Golf & Country Club on great event in the Saudi International. The course looked amazing on TV and you got a great champion in Graeme McDowell (who followed the prior year champion in Dustin Johnson). What is equally impressive is that Troon facilities hosted 2 of the past 3 globally televised events on the PGA Tour: Both the Saudi International at Royal Greens G&CC and two weeks prior the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Abu Dhabi Golf Club.

Add in the Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at the OB Sports affiliated Royal Blue Golf Club, The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay and the Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua on Maui, Hawaii and Troon locales hosted FIVE globally televised PGA Tour / European Tour events in the span of 30 days (in four different countries): USA, Bahamas, UAE and Saudi Arabia).

Pretty impressive.

Results From Last Week
Getting back to Team Troon, three members of Team Troon were in action last week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Arizona: Justin Thomas, Gary Woodland and Matt Kuchar. All three played solid, with all of them finishing in the Top 40 of the event. Of the three Justin Thomas had the best shot at getting into the two player playoff, but would finish three shots back for T3. Matt would finish strong for a T16 finish at 10 under and Gary Woodland (who is a past champion of the event) would finish T40 at -6.

T3 Justin Thomas, -14
T16 Matt Kuchar, -10
T40 Gary Woodland, -6

Congrats to Team Troon!

Coming Up Next Week
Matt Fitzpatrick, Alex Noren, Matt Kuchar and now Patrick Cantlay are scheduled to compete in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am in Monterey, California. Go Team Troon!

Cheyenne Woods is in Australia and will be competing in the ISPS Handa Vic Open in Victoria, Australia. Then Cheyenne will be on to the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open in Grange, South Australia (competing in two events Australia). The event she is competing in this week (Vic Open) is truly a leader in sports equality, in that, men and women play on the same courses, at the same time, for equal prize money. There is a $3M purse, with the men and women each playing for $1.5M. The event is co-sanctioned with multiple professional tours…ie Australian Ladies Professional Golf (ALPG) and Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), ISPS Handa PGA Tour of Australasia (PGATA) and European Tour (ET). Quite cool on all multiple fronts! We know our team in Australia and throughout the World of Troon will be pulling for Cheyenne.

During the week of WM Phoenix Open, Gary Woodland got reunited with Amy Bockerstette in a cool moment during the Wednesday Pro-Am. It was touching/great moment and our Troon logo adorned the golf bag as they got back together again on 16 (where that magical moment occurred last year with Amy making an epic par on the golf hole).
