#TrendingAtTroon - Episode 24 (12/7/15)

Posted on December 09, 2015

This is Kris Strauss back for another exciting episode of #TrendingAtTroon. We have a lot of things trending, so let's get started.

LINKS Magazine released their list of the top 10 courses in Mexico you can play, and two Troon facilities made the cut. The list featured the Gary Player-designed CostaBaja in La Paz and the Jack Nicklaus-design Palmilla Golf Club in Cabo. There's two more why you need to get to Mexico and play Troon. For more information visit our Troon Facebook page and view the entire list.

Troon is pleased to announce that we've been selected to manage The Falls Club in Lake Worth, Florida. This is part of a rebirth of The Falls Club, which has undergone a name change, new branding, renovations and upgrades to not only the golf course, but also the clubhouse. Jim McLaughlin, our very own senior VP of Troon Priv operations, commented by saying, "The Falls Club truly offers a lifestyle that's unique to the region. With an array of amenities, the club offers an experience perfectly suited, not only for avid golfers, but for families, as well." Visit thefallsclub.com to learn more and welcome to the family.

Have you been to Hawaii? Or how about the Garden Isle of Kauai? Well, there's more than many reasons why over 60 major motion films were filmed on that island. We're lucky enough to have one beautiful gem of a golf experience that we manage in Makai Golf Club at The St. Regis Princeville. Recently, Makai Golf Club was featured on the cover of Chicago District Golfer. This publication goes to every golfer in Chicago that has a golf handicap, and gracing the cover is one of the beautiful oceanfront holes at Makai. If you haven't seen the article, or dont live in Chicago, go to the Troon social channels and check out the article now.

Have you surfed the earth yet? I've had a chance to do it at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson, I've also been lucky enough to do it at The Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, and the aforementioned Makai Golf Club. Now Troon is excited to announce our new partnership with GolfBoards. Conceived by Bally Total Fitness founder Don Wildman and big wave surfer Laird Hamilton, GolfBoarding is a unique way to shred the course and surf the earth. Look for GolfBoards coming soon to Troon courses worldwide.

Jon Schauder, from our international team, was recently at the Home of Golf. He was presenting Troon Values Your Time with R&A in their Time for Golf conference in St Andrews. His presentation was very well received and it gave the people of the world the chance to see what Troon facilities are doing to enhance pace of play at their respective courses. He stopped by for a photo along the way with a trophy you might recognize.

Recently the Arizona facilities within our Troon family of courses came together to support the Phoenix Children's Hospital. They participated by creating hit the green promotions and drive for PCH efforts throughout the state of Arizona. The event concluded with a massive event at Troon North Golf Club, where we did a helicopter ball drop with over 700 golf balls being dropped out of a helicopter to raise money for Phoenix Children's Hospital. Needless to say, it was a ton of fun, and if you want to get involved, we'd love your help in getting to more than 1,000 golf balls next year. So visit driveforpch.com to learn more.

Well, that's all we have for trending at Troon this week. I know it was a lot, but it was a lot of fun. I know I wasn't as good as my predecessor, but hopefully you enjoyed this weeks episode of #TrendingAtTroon. See you again soon!
