ALLEN WINS 2021 SAGUARO AMATEUR, EPSON 2020-21 SERIES CHAMPION
Maricopa, Arizona—Tucker Allen (Tolar, TX) won the 2021 Saguaro Amateur by one shot over Hunter Epson (Long Beach, CA) and Canon Olkowski (Las Vegas, NV) at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes. Allen, a member of the University of Oklahoma golf team, shot a final round 69 to overtake overnight leader Epson. Allen nursed a two-shot lead most of the day until he bogeyed the 17th hole to only have a one-shot lead heading to the 18th hole. Allen narrowly missed a 20-foot birdie putt to finish at -11. Epson had a 12-foot putt to force a playoff. He hit a quality putt that barely slid below the hole. Despite the finish for Epson, he took home the 2020-21 Troon Saguaro Amateur Series title. Consistent play over the entire year led Epson to the win, which included a victory in the Silver State Amateur and top finishes in multiple other events.
