Anna Davis wins 2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur Tournament

Tournament field consisted of 72 international women

amateurs competing in 54-hole stroke play format.

Augusta, GA – Sixteen-year-old Anna Davis shot a final round three under par 69 to come from behind and win the 2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur Tournament. After making the thirty-six-hole cut, Davis, the 2021 PING Heather Farr Classic Champion at Longbow Golf Club, fought her way to the top of the leaderboard after beginning the day three strokes behind at the famed course. The teenager from Spring Valley, California and attending Steel Canyon High School in her junior year, finished as the only player under par for the entirety of the tournament. Almost a year ago today, Anna shot 69-67-70 (-7 overall) at Longbow Golf Club to win the Heather Farr Classic by a single stroke. Longbow Golf Club is set to host the 2022 AJGA PING Heather Farr Classic April 14-17.

Finishing in a tie for second place at the 2022 Augusta National Women’s Amateur Tournament is Sweden’s Ingrid Lindblad. She shot a tournament best round of 68 (four under par) on Saturday to move up the tournament leaderboard. While playing for LSU, Lindblad was this year’s individual champion at the Notre Dame Clover Cup Invitational held at Longbow Golf Club in March. Additionally, Ingrid has participated in the annual Camp Sweden practice week at Longbow Golf Club as a member of the Swedish National Women’s Golf Team.

“It is very exciting to see both of these young women that know Longbow Golf Club well and perform at the highest level, receiving the national recognition that they deserve,” said Bob McNichols, General Manager of Longbow Golf Club. “We have seen first-hand the talent that both Anna and Ingrid have playing golf and I extend the most heartfelt congratulations to these two worthy champions. We invite our local golf community to play where the champions play, and discover The Essence of Arizona Golf at Longbow Golf Club.”

The creation of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur was first announced in April 2018, by Chairman Fred Ridley during his annual press conference at the Masters Tournament. The event was established to inspire greater interest and participation in the women’s game by creating a new, exciting and rewarding pathway for these players to fulfill their dreams. At the inaugural tournament in 2019, Jennifer Kupcho, the world’s top-ranked amateur, played her final six holes in five under par, including an eagle on the par-five 13th, to become the first champion. The 2020 championship was canceled due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Seventeen-year-old Tsubasa Kajitani became the first international ANWA champion and the first winner from Japan at Augusta National in any tournament with her playoff victory over Wake Forest’s Emilia Migliaccio in 2021.
