Bucky Dent 32nd Annual Florida Invitational Golf Tournament returns to The Falls Club

Bucky Dent, the former MLB player for the New York Yankees who entered the history books with his home run against the Boston Red Sox, will host the Bucky Dent 32nd Annual Florida Invitational Golf Tournament at The Falls Club on January 24-25, 2016.

Dent, who in 1978 famously hit a Red Sox Mike Torrez pitch over the Green Monster in the top of the seventh inning to turn a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead for the Yankees who ultimately won the championship, has again attracted a cadre of names from the world of sports to attend the annual event on the Gentleman Joe Lee signature championship golf course at The Falls Club.

On tap to attend the sold-out invitational are former heavyweight boxer Gerry Cooney; former New York Yankees Rick Cerone, Paul O’Neill, Tino Martinez and Jeff Nelson; and former Atlanta Brave Andrés Galarraga and Franklin Gutierrez who is currently an outfielder for the Seattle Mariners.

“We keep coming back to The Falls Club every year for our invitational tournament because it is one of the best clubs in Florida. We absolutely love The Falls Club, the course is always in great shape, the staff is excellent and the food outstanding!” Dent said.

This year, the event which raises funds for local charities, will take on even greater meaning as it celebrates the life of Dent’s wife, Marianne who recently passed away after being diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer.

Part of the proceeds from the event will help provide blankets to cancer treatment centers. “Embraced With Love,” is a program envisioned and created by Dent’s late wife which provides cancer patients with blankets and pillows to help them feel more comfortable during chemotherapy treatments. To date, the Bucky Dent invitational has sponsored 64 college scholarships and donated more than $600,000 to local youth baseball/softball programs and other deserving area charities.

With spectacular enhancements to its Gentleman Joe Lee signature championship golf course and an inspired club house redesign, The Falls Golf & Country Club, newly renamed The Falls Club held a Grand Reopening Gala last week that celebrated the re-launch of the Club. The celebration followed completion of a two-phase capital improvement project that fulfilled some $3 million dollars in high value improvements and restorations to the club’s award-winning 18-Hole championship golf course, as well as its 40,000-square-foot clubhouse.

The Falls Club premier golf experience, high-end services and amenities are further enhanced by a fully appointed golf shop, a complete caddie program, complimentary snack pavilion, multiple tennis courts, health club with certified personal trainers and tennis professionals, separate men’s and ladies’ card rooms, expansive locker rooms, a relaxed and casual 19th-hole and full-service ‘Grille Room’ restaurant, along with a bar and lounge overlooking the unique signature rock waterfall that cascades beyond the golf course’s 16th hole.
