TROON GOLF APPOINTED TO MANAGE BATALHA & FURNAS GOLF COURSES ON SAO MIGUEL ISLAND

Continues European Expansion on the Azores Islands of Portugal

Scottsdale, Ariz. -- Oceānico Group, one of the leading and fastest growing developers of golf courses and luxury resorts in Portugal has appointed Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing to manage operations at its new five-star Verde Golf Resorts in the Azores. Located on the island of Sao Miguel, the largest and most populated of the nine volcanic islands that make up the archipelago, both courses, the Batalha Course and the Furnas Course will offer golfers the superior playing surfaces, and outstanding service and amenities that Troon Golf is know for.

The Batalha course is situated on the North Coast of San Miguel, overlooking the sea between the capital of the island, Ponta Delgada and Ribeira Grande. Its sister course, the Furnas Golf Course, is located 30 minutes south of this in the mountains of San Miguel and was designed in 1936 by McKenzie Ross. In 1986, Cameron and Powell extended the classic McKenzie Ross 9-hole course into an international 18-hole course.
