The Masters Tournament is considered by many in the U.S. to be the true opening of the golf season – particularly those in the North and East, where during a typical year only lunatics and members of the Polar Bear Club would think about venturing onto a golf course prior to April.

But even for those of us in warmer climes, The Masters signals the beginning of spring. The birds are chirping in the trees, the azaleas blooming bright pink, and Jordan Spieth and company will have earned their first couple of million for the year already in California, Hawaii, Arizona, and Florida. But it’s all a tune-up for The Masters, the first major of the year.
