Elly Carlson – Only Female Caddie at TPC Sawgrass

Elly Carlson is sharing with her thousands of followers on Instagram and TikTok what it is like being the ONLY female Caddie at TPC Sawgrass.

Though her entire world is consumed with golf – working for the PGA TOUR by week, and as a Caddie on the weekend, she didn’t get into the game until she was 15. After suffering many injuries as a competitive gymnast, her father encouraged her to take a golf lesson. While playing golf in college, she turned to Caddying as a summer job. She worked for four summers at Harbour Town Golf Links (in Hilton Head, SC) alongside a female Caddie who she believes helped her find her “voice” and confidence on the golf course as well as personally.

What started as a summer job has led Elly to a multi-faceted golf career and a large social media following. From sharing her job at the PGA TOUR, as a caddie, or even just basic golf humor, she serves as an inspiration for other women to consider a career in golf.

In her interview with TPC Sawgrass she had asked: “How many female caddies work here?” to which they replied, “You’ll be the only one.” She accepted the challenge proudly and states she wouldn’t be the caddie, let alone the woman she is today, without the female caddies she learned from at Harbour Town.

Elly’s favorite part of Caddying may come as a surprise to many. As a self-professed shy child, this career has made her come out of her shell. What’s more is her favorite part of the job is the “introductions”. Everyone always says first impressions are important, but there are very few jobs that require a first impression every single day to four strangers that you’re going to be paired up with for the next 5 hours. It should be noted that Elly clearly leaves a great impression as mentioned by her clients, her followers and as a top-notch Troon (CaddieMASTER) Associate.

Taking the advice from her mom, she works hard (as evident by her many jobs) but she also plays hard. Granted, she says Caddying doesn’t feel like work at all. Luckily, Elly finds time to play a few rounds of golf herself.  Her dream foursome is her father, her childhood swing coach (Lee), Pete Dye and Peyton Manning.
