Troon is excited to announce that former NFL running back Danny Woodhead has joined Troon as its newest Ambassador. The North Platte, Nebraska native hung up his cleats after eight successful years in the NFL and has now shifted his competitive fire to the golf course. What started as a fun new challenge for a professional athlete has turned into a big passion.

Woodhead has been playing, and having a lot of success, in amateur golf events around the state of Nebraska for the last three years. After figuring out his routine for tournaments, he’s watched his skills improve and handicap plummet.

The hard work was on display on Monday as Woodhead, who was rocking a Troon shirt during competition, took a big step in his golf journey as he qualified for next year’s U.S. Amateur Four-Ball at Chambers Bay in Washington with his teammate Michael Wilhelm.

While it’s a lot of golf these days for the retired running back, he also hosts the “Out of Nowhere” podcast with former NFL lineman Matt Slauson where they strive to tell the stories of athletes that fans haven’t heard before.

Troon is thrilled to welcome Danny to the family with great collaborations in the future. And we can’t wait to root him on when he competes in the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball next year!
