Moments to Help: Healthcare workers enjoy some of the best food in Greater Hartford

IN OUR MOMENTS TO HELP SERIES, WE CONTINUE TO SHARE RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD OF TROON

Five times a week, UConn healthcare workers in Farmington enjoy some of the best food in Greater Hartford, thanks to a community meal program at Tumble Brook Country Club. Bloomfield police are benefiting from the same program every weekend, when the club delivers high-quality meals for first responders to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the world deals with the COVID-19 pandemic, Tumble Brook Country Club has remained very active in the Hartford community. With efforts to support essential personnel in the area, Tumble Brook has taken action to give back any way it could.

“We’re doing what we can to support our community in a time of need”, said Chef David Stickney. “Our members have made generous donations to support a community meal program, and we consider it an honor to help those who are putting their lives on the line for others.”

Stickney is a classically-trained chef who has worked for the Max Restaurant Group and Ristorante Bricco in West Hartford. Stickney and his team have been providing a large variety of food such as top sirloin burgers to salmon as well as making sure to serve these essential workers with high quality, speciality prepared meals taken right off the menu.

The UConn Health Administrative Director, Jessica L. Underwood spoke on behalf of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and stated that “warm dinners and warm meals certainly uplift our staff and can make all of us feel very much appreciated during these times”.

The Intensive Care Unit at UConn Health also enjoyed Tumble Brook’s gifts and explained that they “are so blessed to have [their] support during this unpredicted time”.

Thanks to the generosity of two of Tumble Brook’s members, the club has been able to donate over 250 meals to UCONN Health Center staff ranging from their Intensive Care unit to Cardiology to nursing staff.

The Bloomfield Police Department received a donation of 15 prime rib sandwiches on Friday, May 15th from Tumble Brook as a way to show appreciation for their courageous service.

The goal of the TBCC meal program is to show that we are supporting these essential workers as well as appreciating all of their hard work during this pandemic. With this newly implemented program, Tumble Brook is continuing to look for more ways to help.
