Johnelle Keola Madera

Accounting & Human Resources Manager, Ka'anapali Golf Course, Hawaii

Meet Johnelle Keola Madera, Accounting & Human Resources Manager at Ka’anapali Golf Courses in Hawaii. We asked Johnelle about her heritage and any fun facts to share about her golf game or hobbies when she’s not in the office helping with payroll, new hires or the monthly financials.

“Whenever someone asks my nationality, it is easiest to say Chop Suey. From my mom I am Hawaiian, Chinese and Filipino. From my dad, I am Spanish, French, Scottish, German and Irish.

I am the first grandchild on both of my parents sides, and as a result I am named for both grandfathers. I am named Johnelle after my paternal grandfather, his name is John and his middle initial is L, hence Johnelle. My middle name is to honor my maternal grandfather, whose name is Keola.”

Fun fact, Johnelle’s one and only hole in one was on #17 of the Royal Ka’anapali Course and she twice represented the islands on horseback in the King Kamehameha Day parade in Honolulu (it is quite the honor)!
