KS Energy Services Presents Scott Helmer’s Guinness World Records Attempt On #GivingTuesday

Good causes across California and Arizona to fundraise with entertainer’s 24-hour concert marathon

Phoenix, Ariz. – Independent touring and recording artist Scott Helmer, who has opened for iconic acts such as Heart, Eddie Money, 3 Doors Down, Jeff Bridges, Eric Burdon & The Animals, and more, set out in 2012 to help good causes across the nation raise money and awareness for their important work. Since January of that year, Helmer has appeared in more than 1,000 performances, 200 of which were benefit concerts that have helped raise more than $2 million dollars for military veterans and their families, equine and pet rescues, food banks, non-profit theaters, suicide and crisis prevention, special needs children and adults, high schools and colleges, and many more.

This fall Helmer’s current “Never Give Up” Tour will include an attempt to set a new Guinness World Records title for Most Live Concerts Headlined in 24 Hours (multiple cities), a record currently held by country-star, Hunter Hayes. Although Helmer’s attempt to break the record last year only resulted in a tie thanks to unanticipated boundaries, it was still hugely successful in another way: It helped raise more than $500,000 for the Utah-based Kostopulos Dream Foundation and its Camp K programs for people living with special needs and disabilities.

Presented by KS Energy Services, Scott Helmer’s 2016 attempt will kick off at 9 p.m. PST on November 28 at Tin Roof in San Diego and benefit Toys for Tots. From there Helmer will make his way North for two more concerts in California before heading into Arizona for the remaining nine stops. The 24-hour concert marathon will conclude by 10 p.m. MST on #GivingTuesday, November 29. Helmer’s twelfth and final concert will begin at 9 p.m. MST at Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix and benefit Teen Lifeline. Helmer’s entire attempt will be used to help twelve worthy causes in both states raise money and awareness for their good work while making history at the same time. As with all of his fundraising concerts, Helmer does not handle any money or donations on behalf of the participating causes. Concert stops include:

  • Rio Rico High School Stadium (Rio Rico, AZ) – Benefiting the school and Boys & Girls Club
  • Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery (Tucson, AZ) – Benefiting Folds of Honor
  • Vista Grande High School Auditorium (Casa Grande, AZ) – Benefiting the Arts
  • Shadow Mountain High School (Phoenix, AZ) – Benefiting Teen Lifeline

To celebrate Helmer’s attempt and to inspire people around the world to follow their dreams and never give up, Godin Guitars and Seagull Guitars are helping him give fans the chance to win the actual he will use to break the record. ‘Win Scott’s Guitar’ hashtag contest begins October 26 and runs through November 28. Participants are being asked to upload a photo or video onto Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, telling the world who has inspired them to never give up and why. After making mistakes in 2008 that cost him his livelihood, family and self-respect, Helmer hit the reset button on his life to focus on three simple things: Creating music, performing music, and helping others. Helmer notes, “If I can come back from the brink, anyone can. During his darkest hour Helmer put a gun in his mouth to commit suicide. “Everything I’m doing now goes back to that moment where I was one second away from pulling the trigger,” says Helmer. “I had to make those dark times in my life mean something and using my music to give back is the best way I know how.” Helmer is currently working on a book to chronicle his journey through total collapse and comeback, due out this fall to coincide with his Guinness World Records attempt.
