Mandy Dona

Assistant General Manager, Pearl Country Club

Mandy & HusbandQ: What is one or two interesting facts about your being a military family that you want to share with us?  What do you want people to know about the sacrifices your family makes for our country (something we don’t know but would be good to know)?

A: It is important for a Military spouse to be supportive of your Soldier. Military families have to be just as ready for when the Soldier gets the “call for duty”. One day they are here and the next they can be gone for months. The missions that are put upon them can be critical and they must have a clear mind to fulfill their mission. Being supportive means reassuring your Soldier that you as a Spouse will be okay taking care of the home front while they are away. Always pray for their safe return home.

Q: Who got you into the business or game of golf and what was your first experience at a golf course/range?

A: I moved to Oahu to relocate with my Husband. He suggested that I work at Pearl Country Club and the rest is history! I am not an avid golfer, but I enjoy the beauty of the golf course. Stressful game but peaceful surroundings.

Q: Was there a mentor that helped guide you along your current career path and was there a piece of advice that helped you along your way?

A: I am thankful that I had and currently still work with great leaders and mentors. I cannot credit just one mentor. Each of them shared valuable knowledge with me. However, there is one piece of advice that was told to me… “never focus on the tree, focus on the forest”.

Dona FamilyQ: How long have you worked for Troon (or PCC) and what has been your career progression; what do you love most about your job?

A: I have been at Pearl Country Club for 16 years. I started as a receptionist in the admin office, moved to banquet coordinator/sales, moved to accounting payroll clerk, and recently promoted to Assistant General Manager. I love the loyalty of our Staff. Everyone takes care of each other when the times get tough, we all jump in. I also enjoy meeting new people and creating new relationships.

Q: What is your dream foursome for lunch?

A: I would love to have lunch with my parents who live on the Big Island and my late Sister whom I miss dearly. This would be the perfect dream foursome lunch!
