Newly Expanded Clubhouse Reopens At Whirlwind Golf Club At Wild Horse Pass

After five months of construction, Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass recently unveiled their newly expanded and enhanced clubhouse.

“The new clubhouse is already a homerun with members and guests,” said Marty Hoeffken, general manager, Whirlwind Golf Club. “The expanded luxury locker rooms, new patio dining area and rejuvenated golf shop have all been very well-received. And, with the expansion of our event space, we now have the flexibility to host more weddings, parties and tournaments.”

Led by award-winning design firm douglas fredrikson architects, the expansion includes a 2,500 square-foot expansion of the men’s and women’s locker rooms, golf shop, outdoor dining, and administrative areas. In addition, a new stone and rusted steel feature wall now enhances the entry experience, while new interior furnishings and lighting throughout the clubhouse and an outdoor patio expansion bring new life to the club.

One unique feature of the clubhouse enhancement includes an innovative “tech” bar within the golf shop. This bar-like amenity provides a place for Whirlwind guests to charge their devices, catch up on emails or just “hang” with the professionals in the Whirlwind Golf Shop.

“The tech bar has already been a great addition to our golf shop,” said Hoeffken. “We’re able to interact more with our guests, while they recharge their phones and get caught up on emails.”

Another highlight of the new clubhouse includes the expansion of the patio areas, addition of new TUCCI umbrellas and the addition of five flat screen televisions that stream sports and golf programming. The new patio dining venues overlook the golf course, have views of the surrounding mountains and are perfect for outdoor events or for those looking to dine al fresco at the Sivlik Grill.

“With our beautiful springtime temperatures, guests have really been enjoying our new patio dining areas,” added Hoeffken. “It’s become a great place to hang out and relax after golf.”

For those who haven’t played Whirlwind, the club boasts two award-winning 18-hole golf courses managed by Troon. The two courses, Devil’s Claw and Cattail, were designed by Gary Panks and have won an impressive slate of awards, including being named to Golfweek magazine’s list of “Best Courses You Can Play in Arizona.” The courses feature gradual elevation changes, great bunker designs with multi-tiered greens. Throughout the club’s history, the club has played host to numerous competitive golf events including being a three-year host venue for the Web.com’s Phoenix tour stop.
