Chef John’s passion for culinary arts began in his childhood where he learned how to make sausage, sauerkraut, pierogi, and canned fruits and vegetables with his family. He pursued an apprenticeship with the ACF, worked in various resort hotels and catering for the Summer Olympics in LA before advancing his career in Cape Cod and northern California. He managed the test kitchen for the F&B team at Marriott International Head Quarters in Bethesda MD and finally landed with Troon, first at Bayside now at Bear Trap Dunes.

Designed by Rick Jacobson, a former associate of Jack Nicklaus, Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club offers one of the area’s most unique and memorable golf experiences on the Eastern Shore. The Nicklaus theme is well represented throughout the facility with three different nine hole courses named Grizzly, Kodiak and Black Bear. Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club features all the hallmarks of Delaware golf. Winding bentgrass fairways lined with native wetland grasses drift into natural sand dunes. With impeccably groomed oversized greens and four strategically placed sets of tees, Bear Trap Dunes is sure to beckon golfers of every skill level.
