OV re-launches restaurant with new menus, new name and new look

Oro Valley, Arizona (October 16, 2015) – An inspiring new restaurant in Oro Valley, featuring an eclectic tour of rustic American cuisine and some of the best views in the entire region, is opening its doors to the public on Thursday, October 22 at 5 p.m. The Overlook is part of the newly-acquired Oro Valley Community & Recreation Center at 10555 N. La Cañada Drive.

"The Overlook isn't your typical restaurant," said Oro Valley Mayor Satish I. Hiremath. "In addition to enjoying unique, innovative cuisine, you can meet friends, family and colleagues for a meal or enjoy a cup of coffee over a game of bridge. This is where community happens."

The October 22 grand re-opening, held in partnership with restaurant operator Troon, will give guests a first-hand look at interior renovations and exciting new menus.

The Overlook, (formerly known as La Vista) is open to the public, comprises 5,282 square feet and can accommodate 200 guests. The newly-renovated space includes rustic stone elements and dark wood floors for a blend of timeless beauty and cutting edge design.

Dinner choices range from $9 to $25, and include a full spectrum of delicious options, such as Cedar Planked Walleye, Traverse City Filet Mignon, Cubano Sandwich, Pan Seared Maryland Crab Cakes and the Martini Cobb salad, "Shaken, not stirred."

For just $6, children ages 10 and under can choose a tasty entrée, two sides and a drink from the special Kids Menu.

Although the restaurant is open every day for lunch, dinner service is currently available only on Thursdays for Pasta Night, and Fridays and Saturdays for the new dinner menu.

About Chef Robert Kaslly
Chef Robert Kaslly is a Certified Executive Chef who previously served as the executive chef for Robson Communities in Tucson-area Mountain View Country Club and Saddlebrooke Two, from 2007 to 2015. Robert, who is originally from Detroit, MI, earned his AAS degree in culinary arts at the prestigious California Culinary Academy, in San Francisco, CA. He apprenticed under famed chef, Bradley Ogden, at Campton Place in San Francisco.

After leaving Campton Place, Robert served as the chef de cuisine at Wolfdale’s Restaurant, in Tahoe City, CA. After a brief stint as the Executive Chef at the Hill House Inn, in Mendocino, CA, Robert returned home to his beloved Motown, where he spent four years as the executive chef at the Beverly Hills Grill, in Beverly Hills, MI, where he supervised a profitable kitchen, with food sales exceeding $3.25M per year. The Beverly Hills Grill was recognized by Zagats as one of the top restaurants in the U.S. Robert’s success at the Beverly Hills Grill caught the attention of the board of directors at Birmingham Country Club, in Birmingham, MI, and in 1992, Robert was recruited by the club to serve as their executive chef from 1992 to 2007. Kaslly and his wife Robin then moved to the Tucson area to be closer to family, and he was soon hired as the executive chef for Saddlebrooke. His desire for a new challenge led him to The Overlook in Oro Valley, AZ.
