ALPINE COUNTRY CLUB’S DIRECTOR OF AGRONOMY JAKE EBNER NAMED “SUPERINTENDENT OF THE YEAR” BY UTAH GCSA

Highland, Utah (November 13, 2020) – Alpine Country Club’s Director of Agronomy Jake Ebner has been named the “Superintendent of the Year” for private clubs by the Utah Golf Course Superintendents Association (GCSA). Ebner was recognized during the GCSA’s virtual annual meeting on Thursday, November 12th.

Ebner has been the director of agronomy at Alpine Country Club, located approximately 30 miles south of Salt Lake City in Highland, since 2006. He manages a staff of 22 crew members and has a degree in horticulture. Ebner’s career began in golf as a 15-year-old looking for a summer job and eventually grew into managing agronomics at courses across the country. In 2019, Ebner worked closely with John Fought Design while leading Alpine Country Club through numerous golf course enhancement and renovation projects. Projects included the renovation and modernization of golf course bunkers, new cart paths, and enlarging and improving the existing practice range and putting green.

“I am honored to be recognized by my peers in the industry and feel very fortunate to have a career in the great game of golf,” said Ebner.

Each year the Utah GCSA recognizes a superintendent, assistant superintendent and industry salesperson for their exceptional work. Winners are not only exceptional turf managers but are also active in chapter activities, developing their staff, being a team player, and are champions in growing the game of golf. Winners are chosen by the current Utah GCSA Board of Directors based on the number of nominations and justifications provided.

“We’re thrilled to have Jake recognized as the state’s Superintendent of the Year for 2020,” said Neil Maurer, general manager, Alpine Country Club. “Jakes puts in the work, manages a great team and the results show in our consistent course conditions and full membership. Jake is not one to boast about his accomplishments but we’re proud to share the news on his behalf.”

Alpine Country Club is managed by Troon Privé, the private club operating division of Troon. View a short video of the club’s agronomy operations here. For more information about Alpine Country Club, visit www.alpinecountryclub.org or call (801) 226-1736.
