CHAMPION HILLS RAISES MORE THAN $26,000 FOR EMPLOYEE SCHOLARSHIP FUND THROUGH GOLF MARATHON

HENDERSONVILLE, NC (October 28, 2020) – Champion Hills, a private club and community in Hendersonville, North Carolina, raised more than $26,000 for the Champion Hills Employee Scholarship Fund through a two-person golf marathon. On Monday, October 26th, Champion Hills’ General Manager Dana Schultz and Head Professional Scooter Buhrman played 154 holes of golf over eight hours at Champion Hills, making 92 pars and 23 birdies. Champion Hills’ members pledged money for how many holes Schultz and Buhrman would be able to play, as well as for each par, birdie, and eagle.
The Champion Hills Employee Scholarship Fund was designed to support employees and their families in their endeavors towards higher education and professional training. The Scholarship Fund is funded solely by Champion Hills’ members. Since 2013, the program has awarded college scholarships to deserving full-time and seasonal employees, as well as children of full-time employees with at least four years of service. The fund also gives grants to employees seeking advanced professional training and certification programs directly related to their careers at Champion Hills.
Over the last eight years, the Champion Hills Scholarship Fund has awarded 50 individuals $350,000+ in college scholarships and grants for professional certifications. In addition, 12 employees have received grants for continuing education and certification, valuing $25,000+.
“Thank you to the members and residents for supporting the golf marathon,” said Schultz. “It was a long and exhausting day of golf, but in the end it was worth it. Raising more than $26,000 for the Employee Scholarship Fund through member pledges is amazing!”
