GOLF MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES 2012 PREMIER GOLF RESORTS

Troon-Managed Facilities Honored by the Oldest and Most Authoritative Golf Resort Accolade

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to recognize its managed facilities named to Golf Magazine’s “Premier Resorts” rankings for 2012. This year’s list continued the tradition of allowing avid golfers to vote on their favorite properties on the magazine’s website. More than 7,000 golf enthusiasts offered their opinions to build the biennial guide, listing the greatest resort destinations in North America. As noted in the list below, the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort (Indian Wells Golf Resort) and St. Regis Monarch Beach (Monarch Beach Golf Links) made their exciting debut as Silver Medal Resorts while One & Only Palmilla (Palmilla Golf Club) made enormous improvements to advance into the Gold Medal category. In all, 13 resorts featuring Troon-managed golf courses were included in the following categories:

Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North – Scottsdale, Ariz.
One & Only Ocean Club – Paradise Island, Bahamas
One & Only Palmilla – Los Cabos, Mexico (moved up one category)
Ritz Carlton Kapalua – Kapalula, Maui, Hawaii
St. Regis Princeville (Makai Golf Club) – Kauai, Hawaii

Foxwoods Resort & Casino (Lake of Isles) – North Stonington, Conn.
Hyatt Grand Champions Resort – (Indian Wells Golf Resort) – Indian Wells, Calif. (new to the list)
The Phoenician – Scottsdale, Ariz.
Renaissance Esmeralda Resort & Spa (Indian Wells Golf Resort) – Indian Wells, Calif.
St. Regis Monarch Beach – Dana Point, Calif. (new to the list)
The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa – Scottsdale, Ariz.
The Westin La Cantera Resort – San Antonio, Texas
The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa – Tucson, Ariz.

Voting for the “Best Golf Resorts” was based on four criteria: golf, lodging, food & drink, and service. Forty percent of the resort recognition was based on golf, considering factors such as challenge, playability, scenery, history, facilities and service. The rest of the score was equally weighed among lodging, food & drink, and overall service at the resorts.
