GOLFWEEK NAMES BEST COURSES FOR 2014
Troon-Managed Facilities Recognized in Best Resort and Residential Categories as well as
Best Courses of the Caribbean and Mexico
Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce that 38 of its managed courses have been named to the top 100 lists of “Golfweek’s Best Courses” rankings for 2014. The accolades are comprised of the best resort and residential golf courses, along with the best courses located in the Caribbean and Mexico.
An impressive number of nine Troon-managed golf courses were represented on the “Top 100 Resort Courses” list, with both courses at Troon North Golf Club in Arizona making substantial moves upward, as well as Lake of Isles in Connecticut.
Newcomers to the annual ranking were Camp Creek in Florida and Princeville Makai Golf Club in Hawaii.
Notable mentions from the “Top 100 Residential Courses,” which featured six Troon-managed courses, include Pronghorn in Oregon, and Red Ledges Golf Club in Utah, which both improved their rankings from last year. In similar fashion Palmilla Golf Club in Mexico, Bahia Beach Resort & Golf Club in Puerto Rico and Ocean Club in the Bahamas all climbed the list of “Top 50 Courses of the Caribbean and Mexico” as well.

Among the criteria used by Golfweek’s panel of course raters include:
Ease and intimacy of routing – The extent to which the sequence of holes follows natural contours and unfolds in an unforced manner.
Variety and memorability of par 3s, 4s and 5s – Different clubs hit; extent to which the angles of play create interesting and varied playing options; and extent to which holes offer variety of options from the tee and on the second shot.
Basic quality of conditioning – Variety of playing textures; extent of turf coverage; consistency and quality of bunker sand.
“Walk in the park” test – Degree to which the course ultimately is worth spending a half-day on.
