GOLFWEEK NAMES BEST COURSES IN THE U.S.

Scottsdale, Ariz. – Troon,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce that 33 of its managed courses have been named to the list of Golfweek’s “ Best Courses” in the United States. Pronghorn (Fazio) in Oregon, Kapalua (Plantation) in Hawaii and The Golf Club at Black Rock in Idaho, were yet again listed on the prestigious list of the Top 100 “ Best Modern Courses” (post 1960).

Among the courses named to the “ Best Courses You Can Play, State-By-State” rankings, Quintero Golf Club in Arizona; Silverado Resort and Spa (North) in California; and Makai Golf Club at Princeville in Hawaii were named to the list for the first time. Several others made impressive moves up the list including: Troon North Golf Club (Pinnacle), Golf Club of Estrella and The Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa (Ridge/Canyon) in Arizona; Classic Club in California; The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa in Georgia; Branson Creek Golf Club in Missouri; Old Works in Montana; Pronghorn (Nicklaus) in Oregon; The Westin La Cantera Hill Country Resort (Palmer) in Texas; and Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club in Utah.

Ease and intimacy of routing – The extent to which the sequence of holes follows natural contours and unfolds in an unforced manner.

Variety and memorability of par 3s, 4s and 5s – Different clubs hit; extent to which the angles of play create interesting and varied playing options; and extent to which holes offer variety of options from the tee and on the second shot.

Basic quality of conditioning – Variety of playing textures; extent of turf coverage; consistency and quality of bunker sand.

“Walk in the park” test – Degree to which the course ultimately is worth spending a half-day on.
